“Unique, one-of-a-kind creations from sheathing to sumptuous.”
Terron Mitchell was born and raised in Nashville, Tennessee. At the age of 18 he left Tennessee and moved to Delaware to pursue a music career in piano. His music career was cut short when the piano professor refused to teach him due to his novice knowledge of the instrument. He decided to pursue an art career. He received his BFA from the University of Delaware in 2003. Terron is a sculptural painter. His canvases are sheathing boards intricately carved into various shapes and layered in a 3-dimensional fashion. To add color he creates a variety of oil stains. Although strong, supportive, and talented, Terron always felt overshadowed by others who “seemed” to be more gifted than he. For this reason he uses sheathing as his canvas. Sheathing boards are supportive foundations of most floors that are overshadowed by carpets, tiles, etc. Terron removes these sheathing boards from their natural overshadowed environment and creatively crafts them to be a beautiful focal point on the wall. Terron has done work for numerous clients over the years. The Fed Ex Headquarters in Memphis, TN is one of many of his clients. In 2016 he was published in the Examiner magazine.
